HTC Status Phone with a Facebook Button is Now Available
The HTC Status, aka “the Facebook phone,” is all set ready for the market. HTC Status is the U.S. version of the HTC ChaCha, which was first introduced at Mobile World Congress. Designed in collaboration with Facebook, it’s the first handset optimized for the social networking site and features a dedicated Facebook button, so you can easily post status updates, share links and music tracks and more.
When it comes to the question of technical specifications, HTC Status include a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, with a front-facing camera for self-portraits. The HTC Status, which weighs 4.3 ounces, also has a 2.6-inch touch-screen with 480 by 320 resolution above the physical keyboard. The device is fitted with a 1,250mAh lithium-ion battery, which enables 6.5 hours of talk time, and has only 512MB of internal memory. A 2GB microSD card is included.
AT&T says the HTC Status uses the Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) platform, AT&T’s “first smartphone to do so. It is also the first phone in the U.S. with an enhanced version of HTC Sense that integrates Facebook into more places than ever before.
The HTC Status will be available via Best Buy stores and online on July 17 for $49.99 with a two-year contract. Pre-orders are now being accepted. The Status comes in four colors— black, silver, pink, and blue—though Best Buy offers an exclusive mauve color. Anyway hope this phone will be a hit mainly among teenagers.
