Mobile music discovery solutions provider Shazam has partnered with digital streaming music service Spotify, offering iOS and Android device users in Europe direct access to full-track versions of songs they’ve tagged and identified. So, team up is not in U.S. Shazam works quite well with a library of 10 million songs to pull from. Spotify is a music streaming and download service that is trying to break its way into the U.S. market.

Though Spotify is quite popular in Europe, it is still unavailable in the U.S. It has   missed a Q3 2010 U.S. launch window, due to failure to reach a licensing deal with the record labels.

Spotify’s music streaming service now boasts over 10 million registered users across Europe–rumors continue to persist that a U.S. launch is imminent. Insiders say major American record labels are pressuring digital streaming music service Spotify to jettison its current free content approach in favor of a guaranteed revenue model, citing the impasse as the culprit behind Spotify’s inability to expand into the North American market.  A report in Business Week says that the four majors–Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music–want Spotify to follow the lead of rivals like Rhapsody and eMusic by introducing premium monthly subscriptions to U.S. consumers, enabling the music industry to share in resulting revenues.

Anyway here the two say the feature will arrive soon on the free Shazam app. The feature does require a premium Shazam app on the iPhone, iPod touch and Android devices. Those who paid for the premium version of Shazam Encore ($4.71) should have the new Spotify feature almost immediately. Mobile use of Spotify needs a monthly subscription but also includes ad-free, higher quality songs. Users of the free version will get an update in the next few months, adding the feature. Currently, the new functionality works for users in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Spain and the Netherlands.
