Following the grand success of Galaxy franchise, Samsung is going to unveil a Galaxy Player in Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011, probably by next week. Galaxy player will be able to run mobile application, however, is not voice enabled for any phone call. With superior features and specifications, the fourth generation device is being eagerly awaited by those who want a change from Apple’s iPod Touch.
The design and development of Galaxy Player is inspired by that of Galaxy S. With thickness of 9.9 mm and 4 inch display, the device has a slick look. Under the cover, it is powered by 1 GHz processor. The player will run on Google’s Android Version 2.2 (Froyo). Equipped with SoundAlive audio enhancement technology, THIS piece of Galaxy will offer good multimedia experience with HD video playback support. It has a VGA camera in the front side and a 3.2 megapixel camera in the rear side. It will also feature Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, one microSD card slot, T-DMB, 1200 mAh removable battery and will be WI-FI enabled. Users will be able to access Android Market and Samsung Apps as well for applications of their choice. It is on the air that the device will come in 3 variations of storage – 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. The exact release date and the price are yet to known.
In comparison to Apple’s iPod Touch, Galaxy Player has superior hardware except that it has Super Clear LCD screen with a resolution of 800×480 against Touch’s 3.5 inch widescreen Multi-Touch display with a resolution of 960×640. Besides, where Touch has a thickness of 7.2 mm, Galaxy Player will be little thicker than Touch by 2.7 mm. The maximum storage capacity of Player would be half the maximum storage capacity of Touch’s 64 GB. With that said, it would really be interesting to see if Samsung’s Galaxy Player would be able to challenge so long beloved Apple’s iPod Touch.
