Apple with Their ‘no-glasses’ 3D Technology
According to reports by Telegraph, Apple has been granted a patent for a projection system that would allow multiple viewers to experience 3D without the need for specialized glasses. The patent, which is known as the Three-dimensional display system, details a very complex system. The patent filing described the technology as “a new and advance method of multi-touch input, through manipulation of three-dimensional holograms that can be touched by a user.”
The technology could be used to produce a new generation of televisions, computer monitors and cinema screens that would provide viewers with a more realistic experience.
So, how does it work? The system relies upon a special screen that is dotted with tiny pixel-sized domes that deflect images taken from slightly different angles into the right and left eye of the viewer. The technology operates with a new kind of screen, created from pixel-sized domes. These domes deflect images at different angles, which will in turn appear different to the left eye and right eye. This presentation of images at different angles generates a stereoscopic image, which the human brain will decipher as three-dimensional. Here, Apple plans on combining the dome technology and 3D scanners to allow TVs to find their viewer’s eyes, and beam the images straight to where they are.
If holographic technology was to be successfully developed for commercial use, it would probably open up a whole new market, redefining how we use today’s technology. So, we can wait for new updates.
