With the arrival of HD voice calls for Android, Nimbuzz is going to bridge the gap by introducing a new system through which one can make HD quality calls from their iPhone, iPod or iPad. Nimbuzz is a Dutch company which offers a mobile social networking application like free calls and messaging.
The updated version, Nimbuzz 2.0.4 allows you to make HD quality calls to your Nimbuzz friends that are also using an iPhone or iPod Touch and iPad. The new peer to peer calling system launched by Nimbuzz will make a direct connection between the two calling devices. Nimbuzz also claims that their calls will be connected faster with crystal clear calling quality and the probability of dropped calls enormously reduced. Nimbuzz auto-detects when you have a suitable connection (3G or WiFi) for HD calls and then displays an HD indicator in the calling screen in real time.
The company has also added a ‘Go offline’ function, through which one can use Nimbuzz without appearing online/away/busy to your friends. It has also redesigned the contact list layout to improve usability. Now a Nimbuzz user will see the presence icons (available, busy, away) on the right side and the community icons are placed over the display images of contacts, in the bottom left corner, which cleans up the interface.
Though HD quality calls are available only for iPhone and Android users it will soon be available on Symbian, PC and Mac as well.
