Are you a frequent or simply a user of Google’s Call phone service? Well, there is a good news for those of you who are. Google is going to continue the service with free calls to the U.S. and Canada maintaining cheap call rates to other countries. It was said that the service will be available throughout 2011 without any cost.
One of the striking features of Gmail is the integration of various communication tools in the web based email client. One with a Gmail account does not need to have separate applications for Google Chat, may it be text or voice or video. Enriching the power of Gmail, Google embedded Call phones features in Gmail in late August, 2010. Where Gmail’s Voice and Video Chat demand the users to be in front of their systems logged into their Google account, in Call phone feature only the calling party should be online.
The VoIP technology from Gizmo5, which was acquired by Google in late 2009, is used in Call phone feature. Google also stated it to be the result of its hard work that the call rates to countries like the UK, France, Germany, China, Japan and many others are as costly as just $0.02.
Call phone link appears at the top of the chat list in the left pane of Gmail. A click on the link displays the dial pad for outbound calls to the U.S. and Canada. Calls to other countries in cheap rates, require the user to buy prepaid credits from Google Checkout. Any inbound calls can also be received inside Gmail only. It seems that the extended period of service will raise the number Gmail users.
