Taiwanese company Gigabyte Communications is all set to release the Google Dual SIM Smartphone GSmart Rola, running Android 2.2. Looking at how well the Android OS has done though, Gigabyte’s latest addition to its phone range, the GSmart Rola, will follow many other phones’ footsteps and carry Google’s OS – version Froyo. Though this is a dual-SIM phone, 3G will be supported on only one card at a time, which means the other is there strictly for voice and SMS.

When it comes to the matter of technical specifications, Gigabyte GSmart Rola would be a plastic, entry level handset equipped with 3.2-inch resistive touch screen with 240 × 400 pixels (WQVGA), 256 MB RAM and 512 MB of internal memory, a slot for MicroSD flash card, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, GPS, electronic compass, a fixed focus 3-megapixel camera and FM-tuner. It is heard that sales of this GSmart Rola will begin in the first quarter of 2011, and it will be priced at $215.

Though Gigabyte’s motherboards are familiar, their mobile phone entries have gone largely unnoticed. Hardly anyone will remember their first phone, the GSmart S1205, which supported two SIM cards and ran on Windows 6.5. So, how far this new device is gonna hit the market is the question here. So, we can wait till then.
