Well, if you jailbroke your iPhone 4 a few days ago when Comex offered you an irresistible offer, this one is probably for you. A lot of people outside Canada and Hongkong would also probably be intrigued. The iPhone dev team has released a new unlock, this time to let you choose any carrier on your iPhone 4.

Named as “ultrasn0w”, the new unlock is compatible with even the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS as well. The carrier unlock, ultrasn0w 1.0-1 lets you use any activate any SIM on your iPhone. All you need to do is install the Cydia package on your jailbroken iPhone and add ultrasn0w 1.0-1 from the repository at Cydia>Manage>Sources> Add and then type in http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in the pop up window.

According to Apple regulations, such an act directly results in warranty nullification. However, we doubt anyone will take notice of that after they know that it has been made legal after the Digital Millennium Copyright Act was amended by the US Copyright Office recently. The only ones prohibited from hawking off such software would be the third parties now.

The lot of us back here in India would love to fiddle around with these experiments too. Let us just wait until October.
