Research In Motion has introduced their latest device: the Blackberry 9800. Running on the latest Blackberry 6, the gadget termed as Blackberry Torch is probably going to scare the bejesus out of Apple iPhone 4 and all the much-hyped Android-based smartphones. Because one thing is true even if has stayed low for quite some time: Blackberry is the boss when it comes to the matter of smartphones.
As AT&T and RIM came together to announce the latest Blackberry, gizmo-freaks scampered to catch the earliest tidbits of both technical jargon and available photographs. The Blackberry Torch 9800 is a slider smartphone and boasts of a 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard. Slightly heavier than the Blackberry 9650 Bold, the Torch has a durable design. Navigation is possible by four keys below the display and an optical trackpad.
The Torch is slated for release on August 12 with an AT&T subscription. The only visible drawback as of yet is the measly 480 x 360 pixels resolution, a tough one when rivals are doling out HD displays with 800 x 400 pixels resolution. But RIM being at a number two position worldwide when it comes to smartphones-holding an 18 per cent weight in the market- we guess it will do what is necessary to keep the competition at bay.
