Microsoft Promises A September Rendezvous With IE9
Those of you who always prefer the good old, albeit erratic, Microsoft Internet Explorer over other newer web browsers are in for some good news. The Beta version of the latest IE9 will be dropping in at sometime during September this year.
Kevin Turner, the Microsoft Chief Operating Officer, announced at the annual Microsoft Financial Analyst Meeting(FAM) yesterday that they will be releasing Internet Explorer 9 Beta in September. Of course, test previews of this version were already public since mid-March. We saw the last one of them coming in June. However, the positive point here is that the beta version will be much more user-friendly than the demos.
Initially intended for an August release, sources at Neowin predict the exact date for the IE9 Beta release to be September 2. A Chinese site named cnBeta even managed to slip in a few leaked screenshots, which tell us a bit more than what Turner decided to divulge. Seemingly, Microsoft has decided to add a download manager and add-on manager for their latest Internet Explorer.
The new IE9 will also include wider HTML5 support through its new script engine. Sticking more to standards than its previous versions, IE9 will also boast of SVG 1.1 2nd edition, CSS3 media queries, CSS3 selectors, borders and backgrounds, DOM level 3 core, DOM level 3 events and DOM level 2 style abilities.
