Your HP Printer Gets Its Own Email ID
Less than a month after they promised a genius, HP has swiftly followed up on delivering it. HP has launched the first product in their new line of web-connected printers. The HP Photosmart e-All-in-One D110a features ePrint and has its own email address.
With cloud computing spreading widely like wildfire, printers have faded into the backdrop as of late. A while ago, the New York Times featured a report where HP declared that the answer lies in giving each new connected printer a dedicated email address, which would enable users to fire off an image snapped on their smart phone and have it waiting for them when they get back home.
The Photosmart e-All-in-One D110a allows users to send emails to the printer from any device, and that too with most formats of attachments. That is pretty awesome news for smart phone and iPad owners, as the process works without any extra driver or app.
Currently available is the 802.11n WiFi inkjet, priced at $99. This beauty features a 2.36-inch touchscreen and a print rate of up to 29 ppm black (600 dpi) and 23 ppm colour (4800 x 1200 dpi on photo paper). Additional options for printing include directly off the Internet or via USB or Memory Cards. The scanner manages a resolution of up to 1200 dpi. The only factor strangely missing from the scene is the fax-component.
Upcoming models in this series include the Plus e-All-in-One (August launch) with a 3.5-inch display and priced at $149, the $199 Premium e-All-in-One with a 4.3-inch display (September) and the one with a fax machine, the $299 Premium e-All-in-One will be released this September as well.
