Samsung “Sprints” Into The 4G World With Epic 4G
You have heard of Samsung Galaxy S Pro rumours with outstanding specifications. You have also seen HTC EVO and have been wondering when the next Sprint 4G thingy will appear on the circuit. Well the two expectations decided to meet at the crossroads.
Samsung Epic 4G has been released and is the first American 4G phone. Over from the HTO EVO 4G, the Epic 4G diverges in its look just slightly. Boasting of a sleek slide-out QWERTY keyboard and an AMOLED Touchscreen, the latest addition to Sprint’s 4G enabled smartphones is due to hit the Sprint network in a few months.
Steve Elfman, President, Network Operations and Wholesale, Sprint, said in a press release today, “Sprint takes another leap forward today, announcing its second 4G-capable smartphone. Samsung Epic 4G joins a portfolio of powerful devices offering an unprecedented simplicity and value to our customers as the only national carrier with a 4G network and devices and applications that can leverage the increased data speeds to provide a high-def entertainment and business experience in the palm of your hand.”
Samsung is pretty much over the moon as well. “Samsung Epic 4G is a powerful member of our Galaxy S smartphone portfolio which offers premium screen, speed and content features. The Epic 4G ups the ante with a front-facing camera for video conferencing, a full QWERTY keyboard and lightning-fast 4G speeds.” said Omar Khan, chief strategy officer for Samsung Mobile.
The Epic 4G shows a promising future as we quickly go through its features and specifications:
- · 1GHz Samsung Cortex A8 processor
- · 4-inch Super AMOLED display
- · Android 2.1 (Though, we hope they catch up onto Android 2.2 soon)
- · 3G/4G hotspot
- · 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash
- · Front-facing camera for video chat
- · 720p video recording
In addition, the EPIC 4G also includes Samsung’s AllShare and Social Hub features, a 3.5 mm headset, Sprint apps 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, compass, six-axis motion sensor and an integrated 16GB microSD card.
