How do you know when an application attains Moksha? Simple, it just sheds its beta tag. And the latest one to do so is going to bring a lot of joy to Android phone users.

Opera Mini, which had released a version 5.0 beta in March for Android phones, has finally come of age. Tried and tested for the last few months, Opera has decided it is time for the version 5.0 to be upgraded to 5.1 and to be unleashed in its full force.

For some, who couldn’t wait for the finalization and had been going along by the beta one for a while, are not in for much of a surprise. It retains the initial proxy-powered compression function to speed up web browsing and cut down on data usage, the interface display the same tabs and maintains the earlier PC bookmark syncing functionality.

The only major features added to the 5.1 version of the Opera Mini is official support for relatively huge-screened devices, like the Moto Droid X and HTO Evo 4G. Sadly, the new version lacks multi-level multi-touch pinch and zoom support. But the pros easily override the cons of Opera Mini 5.1.

For one thing-it is lightning fast and is pretty immune to crashes. With other talented options like Dolphin and Skyfire, Android users are sure having the time of their lives.
