Good news for mobile fans. Adobe has unveiled Flash Player 10.1 to their mobile platform partners. With mobile specific features, this version of the widely-loved flash player is “the first release that brings the full Web across desktops and devices”. Adobe has even brought technology and content-publishing companies like Google, Intel, Photobucket and HBO into the picture to optimise support and flash content for mobile devices.
Coming a few months after the beta version of Flash Player 10.1 was released for desktops, the mobile version will expose users to millions of sites with more browser options, including games, animations, data presentations and visualizations, rich Internet applications (RIAs), ecommerce, music, video, audio and much more. The release has been made available to Adobe’s device partners- Android, Blackberry, Palm WebOS, Windows Phone 7 (and its future versions), LiMo, MeeGo and Symbian OS. In the coming months, the new flash player is expected to come pre-installed on smart phones, tablets and other device.
“We are thrilled that more than 3 million Flash designers and developers are now able to unleash their creativity on the world of smart phones, tablets, netbooks, televisions and other consumer electronics,” said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president, Platform Business at Adobe. “The combined power of the leading rich media technology platform with millions of passionate creatives is sure to impact the world in ways we haven’t even imagined yet.”
Customized to provide the best possible experience for mobile users, Flash Player 10.1 incorporates a spate of intelligent features. Accelerometer support enables screen-rotation, while Smart Zooming allows users to scale web content. Optimizing the power consumption as well, Smart Rendering ensures that Flash content runs only when it becomes visible on the screen. Sleep Mode allows the Flash Player to shut off as the screen saver on the mobile device gets activated.
As of now, Adobe finally plans to welcome us into the new Flash Player as soon as users are able to upgrade to Android 2.2 “Froyo”.
