samsung logo Samsung Goes Into OverdriveHow valuable is a maximum sequential read speed of 250 Megabyte per second (MBps) and a 220MBps sequential write speed to you? Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the forerunner in the world of advanced semiconductor technology, introduced their first Solid State Drive (SSD) using the 30 nanometer-class 32 gigabit chip which the company started producing last year.

The SSD will include a SATA 3Gbps interface and high-performance toggle-mode DDR NAND to give the featured read-and-write speed to the 512GB drive. A low-power controller, specifically developed for the DDR NAND will make sure that your electricity bills don’t run off the charts. The controller also keeps tab of the frequency of use and user-preferences to activate a low-power mode accordingly, to extend a notebook’s battery life.

“The highly advanced features and characteristics of our new SSD were obtained as a direct result of an aggressive push for further development of our NAND flash technology, our SSD controller and our supportive SSD firmware,” said Dong-Soo Jun, executive vice president, memory marketing, Samsung Electronics. “Early introduction of this state-of-the-art toggle DDR solution will enable Samsung to play a major role in securing faster market acceptance of the new wave of high-end SSD technology,” he added.

To guarantee superior security, Samsung has incorporated reinforced 256-bit AES (advanced encryption standard) encryption in its newest product. The new capacity extends Samsung’s range of densities from 64GB to 512GB. The SSD also features a streamlined boot time and application access, and together with the new Windows 7 TRIM feature, you can be rest assured of its reliability in the write mode.

Speeding up the performance of a typical hard disk drive (HDD) by three times and registering an almost nine-fold enhancement in random performance over HDDs, the new 512GB SSD is sure to be a nice catch. Be the first to grab one when it goes into volume production next month.
