As the mercury meter is rising and more people are flocking to their favourite pools, the voracious reader wonders which hobby he should skip for the other. Happily though, this summer he’s in luck. A day after Kindle got a new waterproof case from M-Edge, KlearKase has swished its way in to make the reader’s view underwater klearer still. KlearKase announced the first Always-On, Always-Sealed Case for Amazon Kindle on Thursday, swearing to its protection capability against scratches, water, dirt and drops while allowing normal use of the Kindle. Heavily overpowering the previous M-Edge Guardian case’s stand, the Klearkase case speaks for itself at just 6 ounces and $39.99, which is almost three times lighter, two times cheaper and surely a few more times cooler than the precedent Kindle case.
KlearKase LLC was founded by a group of technology veterans with decades of experience building mobile electronic devices. When the founders looked at the cases available on the market, they did not find the right balance of design and protection required for everyday use. The solution was KlearKase: a fully sealed, transparent, “life-proof” case. With the new case, KlearKase claims to deliver the perfect balance of design and protection for daily use of the shielded product. “The fully sealed KlearKase is designed so that you can leave it on all the time,” said Bob Mckenzie, CEO of KlearKase LLC. “Our founders, and their families, have broken more than 6 Kindles between them. The Kindle is an amazing product and we love it. But it is not designed to survive a hard drop, a soaking, or the threats of mobile life unprotected.”
This new lightweight polycarbonate shell has some industry bigwigs behind it too, its brain trust including Dick Brass and other former Microsoft executives. The eye-catchingly beautiful transparent case has been in development for more than a year. The company is seeking patent protection for these advancements.![]()
The KlearKase will be available on Amazon.com later this month at an introductory price of $39.99. In a bid to promote the product, Bob McKenzie has been quoted as saying,”The Guardian is a wonderful case for those who want to read while submerged under water”. “It is rugged and innovative, but it is also heavy and expensive. For the Kindle owner who wants to read by the pool, or even in it, the KlearKase offers protection all day, every day, at a fraction of the cost of the M-Edge Guardian.”
Again, I cannot decide if this is just a kase of serendipity or a clever sleight of hand, but it is noteworthy that KlearKase deftly made the swift manoeuvre just as Kindle products got launched nationwide in Target stores. This is surely going to lend more opportunities for the product to be soon flying straight off the shelves, or should we say, off the diving boards!!
