As of now, the company says, Sony 3D games can only be explored through its PlayStation 3 (PS3) console. Only thing, they say, you will be required to upgrade your PS3 consoles using a firmware update in order to ensure seamless enjoyment with 3D gaming. A 3D-capable TV will be an added requirement for your PS3 to support the new technology.

Initially, the next-generation Sony 3D offer is available only for the people living in Japan, North America, and Europe. Expansion of 3D market will be considered only after carefully measuring people’s responses in post soccer World Cup scenario, says a Sony dealer. While launching the 3D entertainment concept in London, Sony makes the gathering-people elated with its all-new sensual 3D Bravia televisions along with 3D Blu-ray players and 3D cameras.

While anticipating people’s superior response to their new high-end electronics products, Christian Brown, senior category marketing manager for Sony Home Entertainment, says, “Even if [home users] don’t want to adopt the technology now, this allows them to have a future-proofed solution.”

Presently, Sony is ready to push its 3D TV products into two categories. In one category, you will get glasses and a transmitter box along with your TV purchase. Models included in this type are a 60-inch set and a 52-inch set that costs US$5,000 and $4,000 respectively. Transmitter box is an essential item in your 3D TV set that helps synchronizing your glasses with TV.

The other category of Sony 3D TV sells includes 5 other models where you have to purchase your glasses and transmitter separately. Costs of these models vary from $3,400 to US$2,100.
