Dell’s focus on design and mobility has a new name – the Adamo (which is Latin for “I fall in love with”). And if you have any doubt on the slimness of the Adamo, try slipping it inside another Dell laptop. This ultra-portable laptop was introduced to compete with Apple’s MacBook Air and Lenovo’s ThinkPad X301.The Adamo measures 9.99mm in thickness and weighs less than 1.5 kgs. It also features 0.65-inch profile, tough, machined-aluminum chassis, a 13.4-inch 1366 x 768 pixels display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and LED backlight, Intel’s ultra-low voltage processor, Intel GS45 integrated GPU, and a 128GB solid state drive with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed. The 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor keeps the heat down and contributes to a longer battery life. To open its propped up keyboard, you need to slide a finger on the lid’s heat sensing strip. Advanced lithium polymer technology ensures that you can enjoy over five hours of battery when fully charged.

According to Dell, the Adamo provides more than 5 hours of battery life and is equipped with 802.11n wireless, Gigabit Ethernet LAN and Bluetooth connection to connect to the outside world, a 1.3MP webcam, scalloped backlit keyboard, a full-size keyboard with backlighting, two USB ports, a Display Port and an additional USB/eSATA combo port too. It is available in two, attractive colors – Pearl and Onyx.  It measures only .65 inches, but its ultra-slim profile belies the powerful features within.

If you are wondering what makes Dell Adamo so thin, consider this. It uses SSD (solid state disk) 128GB, no hard drive, as storage media. It is the definitely the choice for people who are looking for an “Air” like experience.  In a market with a craze for super-duper thin laptops, The Adamo unfolds in a new way in fact ends up making even a MacBook Air look fat.
