Life got easier for Android and iPhone users! Google Search for Mobile will let you get the actual apps yourself while you search, with its new feature for mobile devices (iPhone and Android). Here’s how it works – login to Google.com on your iPhone or Android powered device, and search for an app. What you will see are special links and content at the top of the search results. By tapping these links, you can reach the app’s page directly – could be the Android Market or iPhone App Store page.
Take a look at the below image for a better idea:
Suppose you search for “shazam app”, it will display a link to the application and its star rating with price. Live in the US right now, this app search feature is set to be rolled out across the world soon. According to Google, results will be included only if a relevant and popular app is found related to the query. Entries, which pull up on top of the regular results, feature basic information on the apps, including price, rating and who made it.
This feature could prove to be very useful. It always helps to get more information on an app, anything more than what the app store provides. However, there have been cases of certain queries which did not trigger the feature, for example, “yelp app” did not activate the feature but “download yelp” did. Google will work hard to improvise over time but this is definitely a quick app search alternative.
You need to note that results appear only if and when your search pertains to a mobile application and relevant, well-rated apps can be found. This option is a blessing for all those who spend a lot of time searching through iPhone’s or Android phone’s respective app stores, while wishing that they could just use the friendly neighborhood Google search box.
