Acer Launches Android Phone & E-Reader
Acer has announced a lot of new offerings for the market that also include its e-reader and an Android smartphone.
Dubbed as the Acer Stream, the new phone currently runs Android 2.1. the basic features include 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen. You can check out the hands on video of the smartphone after the jump.
Also Acer’s e-reader is said to work with Barnes & Noble’s e-book library and offer Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options. It features a 6-inch eInk display, an ISBN scanner to scan paper books instead of buying them digitally, and an integrated keyboard.
The price details and the launch dates have not been revealed so far but as the Acer Stream was recently cleared by the FCC, it is expected to ship to U.S. as well.
Out of the two devices, the Android based phone seems to have a greater potential to lure the customers especially in the Android dominated U.S. market. While the not so impressive e-reader might fare average if the prices are more affordable or less than the other similar devices in the industry.
