Computer manufacturing major HP, floated an idea of a printer which would be connected to the WebOS powered mobile platform. This comes in the wake of the company’s plans for Palm’s range of mobile applications, devices and platform so to speak. This range would include-WebOS powered smartphones, tablet computers and most surprisingly printers. Yes you heart it right-Printers. This somewhat far-fetched but potentially workable idea was proposed by Chief Executive Mark Hurd who expressed his desire of adding a printer to the arsenal of the company as far as WebOS based devices go. This might just be facilitated by the fact that after taking over Palm, HP has its hands on its very own operating system. Of course, as Palm is the company behind the WebOS, a platform which drives Palm, Pixi and Pre. This leverage would allow HP to control the customer experience-something which they have managed to do so successfully over the years in the printing business.

It would be a little difficult to explain what all this printer can do once it sees the light of the day, but if your imagination befriends you, you can find it performing a number of unusually smart jobs and tasks. Some of them ranging from printing directions from Google Maps and taking out movie tickets to performing some incredible net-connected tasks without any help from the administrator.
So if you happened to come across an irresistible article by Paul Krugman in the Ney York Times, and want to share it with your group of friends, you can print it then and there. Fancy isn’t it? This would obviously be made possible by the solidly founded OS and a varied list of applications.

Notwithstanding all the nervous energy surrounding this product and eager anticipation, HP for the time being would be better off focusing on building a new WebOS tablet first. I am sure this is what is running on their minds.
