The Xbox 360 is the second video game console which was produced by Microsoft. It is the successor to the Xbox. The Xbox 360 has many competent like Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii as a part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. An essential feature of the Xbox 360 is that its an integrated Xbox Live service that will allow players to compete online. We can also download content such as TV shows,  arcade games, trailers, game demos, and movies. Other Major features of the console include its mandatory support of high-definition in all games, Windows Media Center multimedia capabilities, game downloads and movie rentals from its online marketplace. It has the ability to watch movies on the  HD DVD format via an add-on drive.

Upcoming Xbox Live updates in the public preview showed that all users under the age of 18 are not allowed to access the social networks such as Last .fm, Twitter and Facebook. And added to this is that unfortunately this will be the case for all those users, when the software will launch on all Xbox 360s, later this year.

In a blog post, according to Major Nelson,a Microsoft spokesperson- Microsoft made the decision to limit access to Last.fm, Twitter and Facebook to those 18yrs and older because parents won’t have the ability “to use Family Settings.This is to mainly customize which of these applications their children can access and which they can’t.” Microsoft is also concerned in making the Xbox Live environment “age-appropriate.”

But Major Nelson has mentioned that it will not be a lasting solution as it is realized that it is going to turn out to be a hot issue for many Xbox Live users. He said that Microsoft is working on “an update that gives parents the choice of choosing the social applications which their children can access.” Nelson has also mentioned that children in their teens, that is between the ages of 13 and 17 will be able to access the social networks such as Last.fm, Twitter and Facebook after obtaining parental approval, after the update is released,.

Microsoft has not yet mentioned the release of Xbox Live update. This update is going to give the parents control over access to all those social networks. It  will be released weeks after the release of the Xbox Live update.
