windows 7 Is Microsoft getting lucky with 7?

Microsoft definitely have successed in launching Windows 7 compared to their earlier release of Vista. Since the official launch of Windows 7, the software giant saw a strong early adoption of Windows 7 in 10 days. In the past days, more than 3 percent of PCs accessing the Web have been using the new operating system, according to Net Applications. In the days ahead of its formal launch, though Windows 7 had accounted for 2 percent of global Web traffic and therefore the usage of the operating system has been growing more in the recent days . Windows 7 is said to be successful as it is certainly proving to be more popular than Vista, judging by its initial sales. In the initial releases of both products, compared to Vista, Microsoft sold 234 percent more boxed editions of Windows 7, according to research released by NPD Group. Thus the good news is that Windows 7 has also been more popular than Vista, in actual dollars. However, a lack of a promotional boost for Windows 7 and early discounts on pre-sales copies ultimately led to revenues only 82 percent greater than those of Vista.

To summarize with the do’s and don’t’s of Windows 7  are :
One can move from a license which is proper with a  version of Windows XP or Windows Vista to Windows 7 on the same computer  in the upgrade version of Windows 7. But certain of these upgrades can be done as a simple update. An upgrade disc can be used by the users moving from Windows XP that is people who are  switching from 32-bit to 64-bit versions. Upgrade disks can be used to do an installation of Windows 7 without a previous version, but it will not be properly licensed as Microsoft points out. Microsoft technical support should be able to help to activate a machine having a licensed copy of Windows XP or Vista. To install the operating system legally, any number of work-arounds can be done if you qualify for an upgrade license and if you don’t, then  the license isn’t valid. Even  Mac users who qualify for upgrade pricing need to have a previously licensed full copy of Windows  ,inorder to use Windows 7.

It’s not often that the two most popular operating systems that is Microsoft Windows 7 and Apple Snow Leopard get major updates so close to each other. Windows 7 is a clear take off for Microsoft when compared with their stumble down with Vista. Windows 7 is definitely the operating system for the future. It has a new look that integrates with the new features heavily. Snow Leopard is also geared toward the future. It  saves space on the hard drive and includes some useful new tricks that Microsoft still lacks.
