This is the brand new humanoid from Waseda University in Japan. Like all the new age robots created in Japan Twendy-One is also a service sector oriented robot. This 5 feet tall humanoid has a trunk with all 4 degrees of freedom which enables it to bend down completely and pick something up from the floor. This well built humanoid with cybernetic muscles has a great deal of dexterity. Its arms which have same dimension and span as that of human have additional flexibility with 13 degrees of freedom. It can move a person out of the bed with same ease as that of holding a delicate straw without damaging it. This humanoid robot can grasp  objects in its arms which is composed of soft materials and is curved inwards giving it a human hand like appearance, in effect it mimics a human hand .Hence can be categorized as bio-mimetic device. 241 force sensors contained in its fingertips and inner palm provide it great amount of accuracy in dealing with delicate substances. Robots head contains two CCD cameras to help it perceive its surroundings and also force sensors to feel the sense of touch on the head. Twendy-One is called human –symbiotic –robot which means that it is aimed to live with humans. This 245 pounds weighing robot has all the basic six requirements i.e. it is skillful, safe, creates a sense of companionship, performs physical labour , communicates with humans and mobile.
