Nokia comes with a new touch-screen web tablet that sports a full QWERTY keyboard, the new product in the N series range the N97. It also has a 5-megapixel digital camera and an FM Transmitter as well.

First attraction of N97 is its personalized home screen. You can connect immediately with the home screen of N97, while using iGoogle or Netvibes. The tiny blocks called widgets present in these applications can be placed anywhere on the screen and its contents can be changed further.

You can also add RSS feeds, Facebook updates, your email inbox, shortcuts to most frequently used applications and even links to your favorite web pages in the N97 desktop.

Due to the large 3.5″ screen present in N97, you can almost view the web pages in their original design, reducing the scrolling of page. The text in the webpage is readable in normal view but you can tap on a web page to zoom the area. Tapping once again switch backs to the previous zoom level.

You can use the mini map view of your Nokia web browser for reading busy web pages which contains too much content. Here an image representation of the full web page is created and you will be able to quickly jump to the section, which you want to read, just by tapping that area.

Like most other Nokia smart phones, N97 too comes with Flash Lite, which allows you to enjoy streaming Flash videos from YouTube or similar popular video sharing sites on the phone.

Text-to-speech reader is a unique feature introduced in the email application of N97, which can narrate out both SMS text messages and email messages.

Nokia N97 comes with a dual camera which helps you to shoot your portraits by looking at the front screen itself. The device also comes preloaded with Qik, which can stream live video over the web by simply pressing the capture button.

Hitting the Qik button on your screen activates the video camera on the phone. You can press “Share” button and you will be live on the web. At the same time phone screen will also display the number of viewers to your video on the Internet. You can save this video clip to your mobile and a copy is uploaded in Qik website also.

The N97 also offers a very useful “search as you type” feature which is a mix of Windows Vista’s Start menu and Google Desktop Search .

When you type in a few characters a list of all installed applications, web browser’s history, bookmarks, email messages, photos, etc. that match your search terms will be showed. Priority will be given to items that you use more frequently by the intelligent search system.

Voice commands can be activated by hitting the green button in the device for an extended period of time. You can launch the application by just speaking out its name.

All N97 phones are preloaded with WaveSecure , an anti-theft software which will automatically lock the phone when someone inserts another SIM inside your phone. User can also log into the Wave Secure website and then wipe out the data permanently from your stolen phone.

The phone also has a built-in FM transmitter. MP3 music can be played on the phone and audio can be herad on any of the FM radios in your car or at home. N97 includes custom applications for AP news, Facebook, Maps and Bloomberg and you can download a number of others from the Ovi store.
